In a landmark political shift, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a commanding victory in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, marking its return to power in the capital after nearly three decades. The BJP clinched 48 out of 70 seats, dethroning the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which managed to secure 22 seats.

This victory is particularly significant for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party, as it reestablishes its influence in Delhi, a region it last governed in 1998. The BJP's success is attributed to early and strategic campaigning, a focus on middle-class issues, and promises to improve infrastructure and reduce pollution.

Conversely, the AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, faced a substantial decline, losing several key constituencies. Kejriwal himself was defeated in the New Delhi seat by BJP's Parvesh Verma. Analysts suggest that allegations of corruption and a perceived decline in governance quality contributed to AAP's poor performance.

The voter turnout exceeded 60% of the 15 million eligible voters, reflecting a robust democratic engagement. The BJP's return to power in Delhi is expected to have significant implications for the city's governance and its relationship with the central government.
